Pixel Hat

This tutorial was written by Monti on November 10th 2007. It's concept is copyrighted to Monti. Any creation you make from my ideas are yours. For this tutorial you will need 

Paint Shop Pro

The Following Colour Chart 
Save and then open in PSP
Of course you are free to use any colours you want.
Ok we are ready to start.

REMEMBER TO SAVE OFTEN 

We will be be making the Hat shown above. The outline below have been resized a lot so you can see it clearly. 
To make this easier I have numbered all pixels over 1.
Step 1:
Open a new transparent image 150 x 150 pixels. 
Select the brush tool with the following settings.
Size: 1 - Hardness, Opacity and Density: 100 
Zoom in to about 800% - 1000% 
Set your foreground to colour 3 on the outline colour chart (#DEC29E) or a colour of your choice and start to draw the bobble on the top of the hat.

Change the colours when shown on the outline.

When you have done all of the bobble outline in colour 3 change to colour 1 on the outline colour chart (#486046) or a colour of your choice and draw in the hat.

Finally change back to colour 3 on the outline colour chart (#DEC29E) or a colour of your choice and draw in the fur trim.

Step 2: Fills
When your outline is complete, select your magic wand with the following settings and click inside the top bobble. 
Select colour 4 (#FFFFFF) on your colour chart and flood fill this selection. 
Keep selected. 
Selections float, Effects 3D effects, Cutout with the following settings
Vertical: 0
Horizontal: 0
Opacity: 100
Blur: 14
Shadow colour: Use your Bobble outline.(#DEC29E)
Make sure fill interior with colour is UNchecked. 
Add noise - uniform and monochrome checked - 5%
Deselect.

Select your magic wand and click inside the fur trim of the hat. 
Flood fill this selection with colour 4 (#FFFFFF).
Keep selected. 
Selections float, Effects 3D effects, Cutout with the following settings
Vertical: 0
Horizontal: 0
Opacity: 100
Blur: 14
Shadow colour: Use your Fur outline.(#DEC29E)
Make sure fill interior with colour is UNchecked. 
Add noise - uniform and monochrome checked - 5%
Deselect.

Step 3: Fills
Select your magic wand and click inside the hat. 
Flood fill this selection with colour 2 (#64B75B).
Keep selected. 
Selections float, Effects 3D effects, Cutout with the following settings
Vertical: 0
Horizontal: 0
Opacity: 100
Blur: 16
Shadow colour: Use your hat outline.(#486046)
Make sure fill interior with colour is UNchecked. 
Add noise - uniform and monochrome checked - 5%
Deselect.

Merge all visible and save as a png.
