Paint Shop Pro
The Following Colour Chart
Save and then open in PSP
Of course you are free to use any colours you want.
Ok we are ready to start.
REMEMBER TO SAVE OFTEN
We will be be making the Balloon Bear shown above. The outlines below have been resized a lot so you can see them clearly.
To make this easier I have numbered all pixels over 1.
Step 1: Bear Outline
Open a new image 150 x 150 transparent.
Select the brush tool with the following settings.
Size: 1 - Hardness, Opacity and Density: 100
Zoom in to about 800% - 1000%
Set your foreground to colour 1 on the outline colour chart (#BF354F) and start drawing your outline.
Start with the top of the balloon.
Change the colours when shown on the outline.
When your outline is complete add a 1 pixel white dot to the bears eyes and nose.
Add a new raster layer and using the guide below draw out the foot pads.
Duplicate the foot pad layer and mirror it. Use your mover tool to put them into position as shown below.
Merge all visible.
Step 2: Balloon Fills
When your outline is complete, select your magic wand with the following settings and click inside the large area of the balloon.
Flood fill this selection with colour 2 on your colour chart (#D06E80).
Keep selected.
Selections float, Effects 3D effects, Cutout with the following settings
Vertical: 0
Horizontal: 0
Opacity: 100
Blur: 15
Shadow colour: Use your balloon outline.(#BF354F)
Make sure fill interior with colour is UNchecked.
DO NOT Deselect.
Add a new raster layer.
Set your paintbrush to size 11, round and your foreground to colour 5 on your colour chart (#EEC2CA).
Add a circle to each side at the top of the heart.
Go to Adjust - Blur - Gaussian blur - Radius 4.
Deselect.

Select your magic wand and click inside the bottom part of the balloon.
Flood fill this selection with colour 2 on your colour chart (#D06E80).
Keep selected.

Vertical: 0
Horizontal: 0
Opacity: 100
Blur: 3
Shadow colour: Use your balloon outline.(#BF354F)
Make sure fill interior with colour is UNchecked.
Deselect.
Step 3: Bear Fills
Select your magic wand and click inside the bears face.
Flood fill this selection with colour 6 on your colour chart (#DB9162).
Keep selected.
Selections float, Effects 3D effects, Cutout with the following settings
Vertical: 0
Horizontal: 0
Opacity: 100
Blur: 14
Shadow colour: Use your bear outline.(#955A38)
Make sure fill interior with colour is UNchecked.
Deselect.

Flood fill this selection with colour 6 on your colour chart (#DB9162).
Keep selected.

Vertical: -2
Horizontal: -2
Opacity: 100
Blur: 6
Shadow colour: Use your bear outline.(#955A38)
Make sure fill interior with colour is UNchecked.
Deselect.

Flood fill this selection with colour 6 on your colour chart (#DB9162).
Keep selected.

Vertical: -2
Horizontal: 2
Opacity: 100
Blur: 6
Shadow colour: Use your bear outline.(#955A38)
Make sure fill interior with colour is UNchecked.
Deselect.

Select your magic wand and click inside the bears body, making sure you select the stray pixel shown.
Flood fill this selection with colour 6 on your colour chart (#DB9162).
Keep selected.

Make sure fill interior with colour is UNchecked.
Deselect.

Flood fill this selection with colour 6 on your colour chart (#DB9162).
Keep selected.

Shadow colour: Use your bear outline.(#955A38)
Make sure fill interior with colour is UNchecked.
Deselect.

Flood fill this selection with colour 6 on your colour chart (#DB9162).
Keep selected.

Blur: 6
Shadow colour: Use your bear outline.(#955A38)
Make sure fill interior with colour is UNchecked.
Deselect.

Flood fill this selection with colour 6 on your colour chart (#DB9162).
Keep selected.

Shadow colour: Use your bear outline.(#955A38)
Make sure fill interior with colour is UNchecked.
Deselect.
Repeat for the right leg.

Select your magic wand and click inside all the foot pads.
Flood fill this selection with colour 7 on your colour chart (#F9D2C1).
Keep selected.
Selections float, Effects 3D effects, Cutout with the following settings
Vertical: 0
Horizontal: 0
Opacity: 100
Blur: 3
Shadow colour: Use your foot pad outline.(#F3A47D)
Make sure fill interior with colour is UNchecked.
Deselect.
Merge all visible and save as a png.
